Rev. A. W. Lott Memorial Scholarship

 

Background:

Created through the generosity and vision of the late Pastor Emeritus Solomon L. Drake, the Rev. A. W. Lott Scholarship provides $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing post-secondary degrees or vocational training.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must currently attend and have participated with the GEMBC ministry for the past 2 years.

• Must be a current graduating high school student.

• Must have an overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.2 or above.

• Must provide proof of acceptance to a college/university/vocational school.

• Must provide two letters of recommendation from school (teacher, counselor, school administrator) and/or church (Sunday School Teacher, Youth Ministries).

 

Deadline:

• Please provide completed application, personal statement, two letters of recommendation and proof of post-secondary acceptance. Applications may be either submitted to church office, completed online - www.gembcla.org/scholarship, or mailed and postmarked by May 15th.

• An official high school transcript is required and must be submitted by May 15th.

 

Award:

Initial award

• Initial scholarship award of $1,000 paid during the first academic year - two installments of $500 payable for fall/spring semester.

 

Renewal

• Students are eligible to renew their scholarship award for an additional $500 each academic year from sophomore through senior year (may be completed non-consecutively up to five (5) years) for a total of $1,500.

• Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for renewal. Please submit unofficial college/vocational transcripts after completion of each academic year by June 15th.

• Total scholarship award (initial and renewals) not to exceed $2,500.
